The Study Found The Hatchet Ridge Project:
- Will spend nearly $7 million on construction-related goods and services in the local economy and generate an additional $21 million from construction expenditures and spending by construction workers.
- Directly employ an average of 112 workers and indirectly provide an additional 179 jobs during the one-year construction phase. During construction, the project will generate nearly $22 million in labor income.
- Provide six to ten permanent, fulltime employees including administrative, operations, maintenance and management staff, with a payroll of approximately $1.6 million annually. Up to 12 additional staff from the turbine manufacturer would work at the project site during the warranty period. In total, during operations, it is estimated that the project will generate $2.4 million in labor income annually and create up to 30 new jobs the life of the project.
- Generate an estimated total of $20.8 million in property tax payments over the first 25 years of the project, including $5.5 million to the Shasta County General Fund. During the first year the project will be one of the biggest taxpayers in Shasta County. Some of these funds are earmarked for local entities, including Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills, Burney’s Cemetery District, and Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District.
